In Conversation with Dress for Success

Here at Alf we are passionate about giving back to our community. As part of our ongoing partnership with Dress for Success, we sat down with their Vice Chairperson and Director Sally Brauer.

"Alf the Label generously supporting Dress for Success via the Luxe Sue campaign is in complete alignment with our values – women empowering women is the most powerful thing I know. We could not do what we do at Dress for SuccessΒ without the generous support of businesses like Alf the Label."

Can you tell us a little about you, and your journey?
I am a wife and mum of 2 girls who enjoys working, baking and contributing to my community. I have been on the board of Dress for Success Perth (DFSP) forΒ five years, and it is one to the most rewarding things that I do.

I grew up in regional NSW, and have lived in Sydney, London and now Perth. I worked in Learning and Leadership Development in a number of professional services organisations for 18-years before starting my own business.

I have two amazing daughters – aged 11 and 13 – a supportive husband and a cute dog called Rusty.

What advice would you give to women who are considering making an appointment at Dress for Success?
The most difficult part can be having the courage to make the appointment – but as soon as you walk through the doors you will be surrounded by people who will listen to your story.

How has being a part of Dress for Success made a difference to you?Β
As a board member, I give my time and expertise to make a difference in my community by supporting women – but it is reciprocal – working with DFSP also has a positive impact on me.

How did you hear about Dress for Success Perth?
An organisation I worked for in Sydney did a clothing drive and I remember thinking what an amazing charity it was. Fast forward a few years, I was at a networking event in Perth and the Chair at the time said there was a position open on the board. DFSP is so aligned with my personal values that it was an opportunity that I could not pass up. That was 5-years ago and it continues to be the most fulfilling work that I do.
